(Hasini's father's name is Jagapathi Rao, and her mother's name is Chandni.)
Jagapathi Rao secretly married Chandni and suddenly brought her home without informing his family beforehand. At that time, only Chandni's parents arranged and supported the marriage, believing all the lies Jagapathi Rao told about himself, his habits, and his life. They trusted him completely and accepted the marriage for their daughter's happiness, without knowing the truth that would later destroy Chandni's life.
Years passed, but Hasini's life only became heavier with time.
At fifteen, she had already seen things no child should ever witness. Pain, fear, silence, humiliation - these emotions had become normal inside her house.
One truth especially stayed buried deep within her family.
After a terrible incident involving her father's friend, Hasini wanted to tell everything to her father. She wanted justice. She wanted protection. But her mother stopped her immediately.
"Don't say anything," her mother begged with tears in her eyes. "Your father will create a huge scene outside. Everyone will know. Some matters should stay inside the family."
And once again, Hasini stayed silent.
Her father had always been a drunkard. From her childhood itself, alcohol mattered more to him than peace at home. Still, whenever Hasini asked about her parents' marriage, her mother always changed the story.
One day, Hasini innocently asked,
"Mummy... how did you even marry dad?"
Her mother smiled weakly and replied,
"Your father lied about everything before marriage. He lied about his habits, his family, everything. Me and my parents trusted him and agreed for the marriage."
At that age, Hasini believed every word her mother said.
But slowly, as years passed, she realized the truth.
Her mother had lied to her.
Her parents' marriage was actually a love marriage. Her mother already knew everything about her father before marrying him - his drinking habits, his background, his behaviour, everything. They were in love before marriage. They went out together, watched movies together, and chose each other willingly.
But her mother never admitted that truth to Hasini.
Maybe because she felt ashamed of the present situation. Maybe because she couldn't accept that the man she once loved had destroyed her entire life.
So instead of telling the truth, she placed all the blame on her husband and hid her own choices behind silence.
As Hasini grew older, she slowly understood everything her mother tried to hide.
She understood why her maternal grandparents were never present in their lives.
She understood why her mother cried silently at night.
She understood why their house never felt like a home.
Her father had affairs outside the marriage and openly ignored his responsibilities towards his children. Every night brought new fights, broken objects, screaming, and violence. Sometimes her mother bled because of him. Yet every morning, she cleaned the blood-stained floor and continued living as if nothing had happened.
Even after suffering so much, her mother worked endlessly for Hasini and her brother. Her salary was small, loans kept increasing, and survival itself became difficult. Still, she tried her best to provide education and food for them.
But her father never changed.
He publicly insulted her mother, humiliated her at her workplace, and demanded money from her constantly. Finally, unable to bear the embarrassment anymore, her mother broke down.
"I lost all my dignity," she cried. "I can't stay there anymore."
And that day, she left her job.
